Sun’s out, suds out! We’re hitting the road in true Bacon and Beer Classic style this summer. Grab your keys, pack your bags, and get that AUX cord ready for our True Brew Tour, AKA the ultimate sudsy cross-country road trip. We’re sharing our favorite beer spots from sea to shining sea - and where better to start than in our own backyard, Brooklyn. Trust us, this will be the best beer run you’ve ever made.
Not sure how to pronounce it? Neither are we. But we are sure that this is the place to go for some of the best brews in Brooklyn. Dreamed up by Evil Twin brewmaster Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø, Tørst - meaning “thirsty” in Danish - does more than simply quench your thirst. With 21 rare beers, rustic Nordic design, and funky music, it checks every box, and a few you didn’t even know you had. If you’re in search of suds you can’t get your hands on almost anywhere else, head on over.
Spuyten Duyvil has become the destination for rare Belgian brews in Brooklyn and arguably the entire state of New York. Their six draughts and 100 unique bottled brews will keep you coming back for more. Settle in amongst the cozy, flea market decor or head out back to the outdoor garden, tucked away from the hustle and bustle.
Every beer road trip needs a beer garden. Go big with this 6,000 sq ft beer hall in the heart of Greenpoint. Spritzenhaus will keep you both hydrated and entertained with hundreds of craft draughts, liter pours, and that cozy community feel Brooklynites love. Play Jenga, munch on pretzels, and stay late, just like summer intended.
Being a bar and a brewery has its advantages, and Threes Brewing offers you plenty. Along with killer pours from their in-house brewery, Threes serves up suds from breweries near and far. With twenty-four constantly evolving taps, it’s no wonder Threes maintains its spot at the top of critics lists. Escape the city heat in their pitcher perfect backyard garden.
Other Half Brewery
We wouldn’t be doing our tour justice without this one-of-a-kind brewery. Whether you’re a native, new to the city, or just passing through, put Other Half Brewery at the top of your bucket list. Opened in 2014, this unassuming taproom quickly made its mark on the local--and national--beer scene. Once inside, you will be greeted with unique beers, a welcoming atmosphere, and passionate staff. There’s no better way to wrap up this trip than with a cold beer from Other Half.
