A favorite from the Santa Clara Classic was Nom Burger, a farm-to-table burger joint based in Sunnyvale, CA. Our judges awarded Nom Burger’s jalapeno bacon the Best Savory Dish of the festival! 1. What was your inspiration for the jalapeno bacon?
The Bacon and Beer Classic is the perfect event for us because what's better with a burger than adding bacon and enjoying it with a beer? For our signature dish, we decided to keep it simple and showcase the two bacon types we make in-house: candied bacon and jalapeno bacon!
2. What style of beer would pair best with your bacon strips?
Since we featured two very different flavor profiles - one spicy and one sweet - it's hard to pick one beer. Added to our burgers, any cold, refreshing beer is good!
3. What did you enjoy most about the Classic?
Definitely the love that people showed us! We served our bacon hot off the grill, and people LOVED that. So many people came back begging for seconds!
4. Tell us about another favorite dish you offer at Nom Burger.
Our signature burger is our Nom Burger, which has gruyere cheese, caramelized onions, butter lettuce and tomato aioli. We definitely recommend adding bacon and a fried egg to it for the complete experience. If you're more adventurous, go with the #DatEggDoe. If you see a picture of it, you'll understand why!
5. What do you love about living in Sunnyvale?
Living in Sunnyvale is great because it's central to everything. And it's up and coming. We're new to the area and can't wait to see further development and traffic to the town.
